Nature tables are not a thing of the past, they are very much alive at a gardening club near you.

When I was at school, many moons ago, we had a nature table where we brought things that we’d found in nature. It could have been an old bird nest, some autumn leaves, conkers and even moss and lichen. I loved it. We learned a lot from our nature table. So in honour of my school nature table, I am recreating the wonder with my pollinator nature table.

If you book me for a gardening club talk, or join me on a Bumblebee Safari you should get to see my Pollinator Nature Table. It’s full of all sorts of real, but deceased, bumblebees, solitary bees, nesting materials, moths, butterflies, beetles, wasps, hornets and so much more.

It’s popular with all ages and gives people the chance to look at bees close up. I’ve used small magnifying pots so that you can see details of the specimens. There is a pot of bee poo, that’s the most popular thing on the table. But there’s also a Lego Minecraft Bee and a Pokemon Card, so there really is something for everyone.
